Lost a chunk of work for my model, but this is the final image after restoring it:

Final additions

I added the background and a few lights to add effect to the final image

Adding the "lid"

I extruded a polygon from the top of the torus and used to to shape the "lid", scaling individual sections to give it more bulk.

texturing and adding a water droplet

I added a leaf texture to the base, and a red leaf to the "lid", using a UVW Map to make it perfect. I created a water droplet using a sphere, and textured it with a lower opacity and reflection.

Fixing the opening

I extended and scaled the opening of the plant to make it more realistic, and prepare it for the "lid"

I continued the stalk and wrapped it around the "branch".

3rd model, a pitcher plant

Going to do a pitcher plant for my final model, here is the initial work:

Started with a torus, and extruded a ring from the bottom to create the main body of the plant. I scaled and extruded it to shape the base and the stalk protruding from the bottom. I added a cylinder to the scene to represent a tree branch.

SWOT Analysis

Strengths

I believe that my strengths so far have been being able to model using several images as a base to perfect each part. Also being able to work out how to do separate sections without being told.

Weaknesses

I believe my weaknesses lie in the inability to attempt large scale models due to the amount of work involved. Also, the texturing is proving to be more difficult than I imagined.

Opportunities

I am glad I have managed to get to grips with the basics, and some of the more advanced features of 3D Studio Max, as I may have to use it after university.

Threats

My greatest threat is probably the texturing side, or forgetting to save the work before it crashes. But I shall see how it goes.

Model completed

Finished the final touches, all that is left is to texture it.

I extruded the spikes from the head and collapsed at the point.

Legs done

I used the same technique for the rear legs, shaping the toes from the vertices.

Axolotl - partial legs + tail

Extruded parts of the top and bottom to create the tail, the legs were created separately and connected to the main body.

My next 3D model will be an axolotl, a salamander type creature.

Initial model:

I started with a sphere, deleted half of it and extended it while scaling it down to a point.

Completed dragonfly

I added some more legs that are extended and shaped cylinders. The eyes are spheres that have been flattened, and a texture has been added.

Added head by continuing the cylinder and collapsing at the end, wings using four planes opacity masks to give a semi-transparent appearance and MeshSmooth'd.

Just working on the tail, started with a cylinder and used the scale tool while extending it to get the effect.
